In wastewater pumping, downtime isn’t just inconvenient — it’s expensive. Crews get pulled from other priorities, confined-space entry increases risk, and unplanned callouts drain budgets. Most issues come down to a few root causes: clogging, poor design, inefficient hydraulics, and wrong selection. For municipalities, these are not just maintenance problems – the affect budgets, personnel and schedules. They can lead to costly service calls, after hours call-outs and even compliance issues. Aging infrastructure, low use water fixtures and heavier debris loading have lead to a “New Sewage.”
Much of the problem lies in older pump designs not built for today’s wastewater. Modern waste streams full of wipes, rags, and synthetic materials overwhelm outdated impeller designs, leading to frequent clogs and ultimately, seal failures.
That’s why we provide multiple impeller designs and variations. KSB’s Amarex series of pumps are engineered for these exact conditions, keeping your wastewater flowing with less downtime.

The KSB D-max in an ARX (left) is an innovative, open, two-vane impeller designed by the company KSB Group for handling raw wastewater and fluids containing solids and fibers. The KSB F-max (right) is an asymmetrical impeller design for wastewater pumps that combine high efficiency with a free-flow capability, allowing large solids and long fibers to pass through without clogging.
KSB’s Amarex pumps and impellers are engineered to prevent the most common causes of pump failure. Each model combines advanced hydraulics, solids-handling capability, and smart protection features to keep wastewater flowing reliably.

Cooling & Monitoring Options
Together, the KRT and ARX pumps deliver reliable, low-maintenance performance in even the toughest municipal wastewater conditions — helping crews spend less time on repairs and more time keeping the system operating.
With Crane Engineering’s technical guidance and service support, municipalities gain more than a pump — they gain a long-term reliability partner. Crane ensures your pump performs at its peak for years to come, by providing people selection, startup, and factory authorized aftermarket support.
