If you missed Crane Engineering Tech Expo last week, you missed a lot. We had record attendance, more demo equipment than ever before, and an end of day beer (or two) with Green Bay's John Kuhn. If you weren't able to attend this time, we've recapped 5 of the biggest things you missed.
ITT Goulds Pumps new i-Alert2
One of the biggest things you may have missed is the premier of ITT Goulds Pumps new i-Alert2. Those who attended Crane Engineering Tech Expo got to see it before its official May 18 release. i-Alert is all grown up in this new Bluetooth enabled version, putting monitoring and diagnostics in the hands of everyday users to safely monitor equipment from a distance using an iPhone or iPad.
The Apple mobile app, and i-Alert2 will hit the market in July 2015.
Viking Pump's Hygienic Series
Just a few months ago, Viking Pump released its Hygienic Series, a new internal gear pump for sanitary applications. It was on display at Crane Engineering Tech Expo, and Viking also presented a technical session about choosing the right positive displacement pump for hygienic applications.
SPX's 8' Desuperheater Cutaway
There was a LOT of working demo equipment, cutaways, and display equipment at the show. But not many stood out like the enormous, orange desuperheater from Copes Vulcan in the SPX booth. The Direct Steam Converting Valve (DSCV-SA) is generally used for turbine bypass or any high pressure steam applications, to reduce high pressure steam to low pressure steam while desuperheating it to make it useable for lower pressure lines.
Gorman-Rupp's Glass Faced Demo Pump
This demo pump is always an attendee favorite. Those who attended Gorman-Rupp's presentation, "Basic Hydraulics Theory For Pumping Systems", were able to get a more in depth understanding of how process conditions can change the performance of centrifugal pumps. Gorman-Rupp representatives had a crowd of attendees (at points, 3 deep) while they demonstrated different points from the presentation.
John KUUUUUUUUUUUHN!! (And Beer!)
At the end of the day, attendees were invited to kick back and enjoy a beer while they listened to a presentation from Green Bay's John Kuhn. Kuhn shared his thoughts about last season and what's in store for this year.
Those who arrived early were able to grab an autograph football from the Xylem Goulds Water Technology booth to get signed after the show.
