6 Favorite Videos To Help Understand Fluid Process Challenges

Written by Sara Peters | October 9, 2020

Sometimes just reading about a particular challenge doesn’t help you solve it. It helps to have something visual to get a better grasp on the concept. So when I come across videos that explain fluid process challenges really well, I keep a running list. It's a bit of a mixed bag, with a little of everything, but guaranteed you'll find something that relates to your process.

Grab some popcorn and dig into my 6 favorite fluid process equipment videos!

Preventing Water Hammer & Surge with Pulsation Dampeners

This video, from Blacoh Pulsation Dampeners, is a demonstration in the effects of water hammer and surge. It also shows how the introduction of a pulsation dampener can drastically minimize the effects of water hammer and surge.

Troubleshooting Hunting or Oscillating Valves

This video is one of my personal favorites, not only because it’s one of ours, but also because it’s a very clear and understandable demonstration of why a positioner could “hunt” and what that means in relation to process control.

Mixing w/ Baffles, w/o Baffles, Off Center Mixing

Here's a series of 3 videos from Cleveland Mixer. Each video depicts a different mixing situation and makes it easy to visualize how baffles and off center mixing can affect the mixing result.

Check out these three videos, then head over to our interview with Sean Donkin, President and CEO of Cleveland Mixer (and mixing genius), to learn more about how speed and impellers also come into play.

How To Read A Centrifugal Pump Curve

This video is by far our most popular. Jordan Daun, Application Engineer, breaks down the different components of a centrifugal pump curve and explains exactly how to best read it. With clear illustrations and description, it’s clear why this one has been a favorite among our customers.

Gorman-Rupp Pump Safety Instructional Video

This video is geared towards Gorman-Rupp pumps, but the tips in this video are applicable to any brand of pump. These tips may seem like no-brainers, but this video is a good refresher for any pump maintenance technician.
