How To Plan For Your Next Industrial Flooring Project

Written by Morgan Falck | January 19, 2017

It seemed like a normal day. You grabbed a cup of coffee, read some emails, met with your team, and got down to business completing your to-do list. As you began to make your rounds you see it. You look once and then again to make sure you’re really seeing it at third glance it’s confirmed it’s a CRACK! Right there in the middle of your production floor.

Questions start running through your head like “how long has it been there?”, “Has it affected your co-workers or operation?”, “is it a hazard?”, and the dreaded question “how much is it going to cost?” By this time, your head is spinning—but don’t worry, Crane’s CRP team has your crackI mean back!

I enlisted the help of our CRP team to help steer you in the right direction. Tom Soderlund, Bryan Hendricks, and Keith Den Ruyter, three of our senior CRP team members, were happy to offer their advice. Take a look at what they recommended.

  • Evaluate Your Flooring
Take a close look at your flooring, especially areas that have puddles or cracks. Also, look for slippery areas of your flooring, this could be a sign there is an issue with your flooring. Become familiar with the surface you walk on every day.
  • Contact a Flooring Representative
There are many options for flooring repairs. Finding the best solution for your new project or your repair job can save you time and money. A flooring professional will guide you in the right direction with the most accurate information. Simply having a conversation with an experienced professional can lead to a helpful discussion. Our CRP team has worked in various industries with many different applications, from paper companies and industrial manufacturing to the food and dairy industries. Learn about how our team helped a Cheesemaker deal with concrete erosion.

  • Don't Forget About Downtime!
This is one of the most important steps. If you don’t leave enough time for your flooring to completely cure, there is a good chance you will find yourself doing additional repairs in the future. Once you know how long the project will take to complete, you can schedule enough downtime for the job to be completed without a hassle.
  • Set a Budget
It is much easier to plan your budget after consulting with a flooring expert and figuring out which application is best for your operation. It also helps if you have an idea of what to expect for down time so you can formulate an accurate budget.
  • Act Fast!
Waiting to complete your project can be harmful not only to your building and operation, but to your employees as well. Flooring issues are no joke when it comes to safety. Once your budget is approved, schedule your flooring project as soon as possible before the damage gets worse. For example; these forklift drivers were able to “work safer” after an Industrial Flooring project was completed.

Flooring issues are never fun to deal with. Working with a knowledgeable and experienced team can make all the difference. If your company is experiencing issues with flooring, don’t hesitate to contact our CRP team with 25+ years of experience, they will help ease your mind and find the best possible solutionit's worth the conversation.
